Tax invoice, B2B/B2C, HSN, credit notes, IRN, e-way, PDF, logo preview. About 10 min. As of August 2026.
This tutorial explains GST the way a new founder or accounts clerk needs it, and how the same work is done in Phyntara. It is teaching, not a legal opinion. Thresholds, due dates, and late fees change when the GST Council notifies them. Your CA files. Confirm the live rule on gst.gov.in before you act on a rupee.
Open Bills to customers. The left side is the form. The right side is a live preview of the look you saved on Letterhead — including the logo.
Issue a tax invoice
1. Pick the customer or type a name
Saved customers live under Customers. GSTIN if they have one. Blank GSTIN = B2C.
2. Customer GSTIN
We checksum it. If it is valid, POS jumps to that state. Interstate vs same-state tax is automatic.
3. Lines
Description, HSN/SAC (required on B2B with GST), qty, rate, GST %. Exclusive is the usual B2B mode.
4. Issue
You get a number (prefix from Letterhead). If e-invoice is on and this is B2B, we try IRN. If IRN fails, the PDF says it is not a valid B2B tax invoice until you retry IRN.
5. Download PDF
Same look as the preview. Signed QR after IRN. E-way number if generated.
Credit note / debit note
Choose the document type, then pick the original tax invoice. Customer and lines copy across. You are adjusting that bill, not inventing a floating minus.
IRN and e-way buttons on the list
If IRN is missing on a bill that needs it, use Get IRN. If you move goods and the invoice qualifies, use e-way. Cancel IRN/e-way only with the CA — those are legal cancellations, not “delete PDF.”
